Sunday morning...church bells ringing

Today was another great day.
We slept in, had a fresh fruit breakfast and then ventured out into what has been the best weather yet.
We went down by the river and got there just in time to see the beginning of a marathon come racing past. There were about 1500 to 2000 people. How lucky were we to be in the right place at the right time to see this?
After watching the runners we strolled down to the Park de Caldaron and watched the coming and going at the New Cathederal. When things quieted down, we went into the cathederal. Being inside this church was awe inspiring. The stained glass and the statuary were beautiful beyond describing.
At noon we met up with a couple from Vancouver for lunch. They had their little dog with them and I got to get some sweet doggie kisses. Thank you Freddy! I miss my Petey.
After lunch we walked for a of hours in a direction we had not been. We found a new park, a new church, and a whole new shopping area. We went into a building that turned out to be a four floor deprtment store where wespent time exploring each floor..
We were surprised to find so many stores open. We wandered in and out of furniture and department stores decorating and furnishing a place we don't even have.........yet.
We made it back to the apartment about 4 and had a nice nap.
We had a quiet evening stroll, stopping in at a Pakistani place for dinner,........another excellent meal...then home to rest up for tomorrow.

  1. Great post and perspective! We are working on furnishing and decorating our new house and are looking for good places to visit. I am curious about the four floor department store you mentioned. Where is it located?

    1. I could find my way back if I were there, but don,t know exactly where it was. It is in El Centro....I think in the San Blass neighbor hood. How long have you been in Cuenca? Do you have a blog? We are so excited. Will be there by April!
